"There you go again..." was my all-time President Ron Reagan line from the presidential debates. "The great communicator" used that line SO effectively to make mince-meat out of President Jimmy Carter. I admire both men VERY much...drove home the point to me that one-lines that are said just right speak volumes and influence listeners.

"Wound down" sounds like s/he is enjoying real success with trading in negative thinking for a more positive approach.

I spend too much time ruminating. BUT I'm now able to set my worries aside. Worrying doesn't ruin my whole evening now like it used to. I try to remind myself to leave some space in my mind. I DO upset myself...but I wind it down sooner than later now even when I feel rejected or ticked off. I tell myself, "Keep doing what works!" I realize now I can talk myself UP or DOWN. Your articles keep percolating in my mind! The part of your book "Talk to Me" on how to talk positively to myself has been really helpful!

So, I do still upset myself BUT I wind it down sooner...than later.

Your Riley reminds me of my daughter, the first time she tagged along with us to our favorite all-time attraction, the U.S. Air Force Museum in Dayton. My husband LOVED that place and would have moved into a corner in his sleeping bag at age 6 if we'd have given him permission. My daughter, about age 8 at the time, walked into that vast modern air wing...a big open hangar with lots of planes all around...stood there with her hands on her hips, surveyed the place, and then said, "You know, if you moved all these stupid planes out of here, this would be a GREAT place to rolller skate."

So tell Riley that hoping Dayton becomes an island isn't so far-fetched either. If global warming continues, the Great Miami could swallow it up and give her a great diving venue!
